There are three very important parts to losing weight! Diet, although I prefer the term “food plan”, and support are two of the key ingredients. The third is exercise! You have got to move to lose! You CAN lose weight without exercise but only to a certain extent. There are many benefits to exercise though! Exercise burns calories so it is great for you when it comes to avoiding weight gain! Regular physical activity can help you prevent or manage a wide range of health problems and concerns, including stroke, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression, certain types of cancer, arthritis and falls. Did you have a stressful day or do you need an emotional uplift? A workout at the gym or a brisk 30-minute walk can help. Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. You may also feel better about your appearance and yourself when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem. Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise and physical activity deliver oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and help your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. And when your heart and lungs work more efficiently, you have more energy to go about your daily chores. Do you have problems sleeping? Daily exercise can help with that too! So during this holiday season, find something you like to do and move! Whether it is a walk through your neighborhood or joining in the Black Friday Madness (a lot of walking and standing and in some cases running…LOL). I started by riding an exercise bike for 15 minutes, three times a week and have worked it up to running a half marathon and riding in a 100k event! You can do it to!
